چکیده

An integrated 1 4 InP-based optical switch is reported. The device is quite simple and full device operation is achieved by injecting electrical currents to two electrodes. Since the operation of the switch relies on current spreading, using the carrier-induced refractive index change in InGaAsP multiple quantum wells, an area-selective zinc in-diffusion process is used to regulate the current spreading and optimize device performance. As a result, the fabricated 1 4 switch exhibits a 14 dB crosstalk between channels over a wavelength range of 30 nm, while maintaining low electrical power consumption and allowing the switch to be operated uncooled and under d.c. current conditions. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. In this paper, we numerically simulated a glass-based all-optical 1×N power splitter with eleven different configurations using soliton breakup in a nonlinear medium. It is shown that in addition to reconfigurability of the proposed splitter, its power splitting ratio is tunable up to some extent values too. Routing Capability and Blocking Analysis of Dynamic ROADM Optical Networks (Category - II) for Dynamic Traffic

Reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs) can be classified into three categories based on their underlying switching technologies. Category I consists of a single large optical switch; category II is composed of a number of small optical switches aligned in parallel; and category III has a single optical switch and only one wavelength being added/dropped. In this paper, to evaluate...
